Dr. J.P. Rader is the Secondary School Principal at GSIS and comes to us after spending the past seven years at Asbury University teaching in the School of Education as a Professor of Secondary Education as well as serving as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach. Prior to his time at Asbury, Dr. Rader and his wife, Helen, served in Korea for 23 years teaching, coaching and serving as an administrator at Seoul Foreign School. While at SFS, Dr. Rader taught History in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program while serving as Athletic Director and coaching two varsity sports.
Dr. Rader also served as an Instructor of Physical Education and worked as Athletic Director and Intramural Director at Young Harris College in Georgia from 1984-87. Dr. Rader earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Morehead State University in 2014 to complete an educational journey that has included three Masters degrees in Physical Education, Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership. Dr. Rader and his wife Helen have three married children who all graduated from Asbury University and who teach at international schools in Korea and Singapore. The Raders have five grandchildren: Ephraim 6, Moses 4, James 4, Bram 2 and Phyllina 2.
In his free time, Dr. Rader enjoys reading, running, enjoys sports, photography and collecting historical memorabilia.
