Middle School Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Gyeonggi Suwon International Middle School, home of the Knights!  As the principal of GSIS Middle School (MS), I would like to announce that this division is a special place with a proud community of educators that promote inquiry based learning, a multitude of collaborative opportunities and a strong basis for Christian values incorporated in instruction and our day-to-day activities.  Whether you have been a part of this community for the four or five years, four or five months, or you are just joining, you will discover that we are committed to serving and providing students with quality teaching and learning experiences, an understanding that a community is where good character matters, and above all else, the knowledge that each and every student is valued in our community for their individual and unique differences.

At our school, we are working to implement the International Baccalaureate Program from elementary to high school.  We have been successful thus far with full authorization of the Diploma Program, and anticipate the Primary Years Program (PYP) will follow this year and the Middle Years Program (MYP) next school year.  Currently, our Middle School Division includes grades 6-8 in which the courses offered, presented and assessed follow the MYP program.  Additionally, we participated in a year-long self-study in preparation for the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) from 2009-2010, and we received a six-year term of accreditation as a result.

Within our Middle School Division, we offer many opportunities for participation on a variety of levels:  sports, music, club activity, academic extra help, spiritual formation, leadership opportunities, social engagement and the list can go on.  You will find that having your student fully involved in the programs that we offer at our school will provide them a solid sense of security in taking part in this school’s community.  As you explore this website, you will find instructions on how to take full advantage of these opportunities for your child to get the most out of their educational experience.

There are many programs established and held to keep you informed, Headmaster’s Coffee, MS Principal’s Coffee, MYP Parent Information Sessions, PTA Meetings just to name a few.  I encourage you to attend and to get to know the school and discover the investment that is being made in your child’s educational development on behalf of our staff.  If ever you find that those programs do not serve your need, please know that you are welcome to come meet with me to discuss your concerns at any time.

Thank you,

Tiffeney A. Brown
