Armen Babakhanian is an Armenian pianist who has won prizes at Leeds, Van Cliburn, and Gina Bachauer competitions and has recorded more than 15 CD productions. Mr. Babakhanian has given recitals in the USA, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, and Spain. He has appeared as a soloist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Boston Pops Orchestra, Irish National Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra (USA), Dallas Symphony, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, Moscow Philharmonic, and Israel Philharmonic. He has also performed in many other countries throughout Europe, South America, Middle East, and Asia. Mr. Babakhanian is a graduate of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory (where Nona Petrosyan-Kilgore also graduated), where he is currently an Artist-in-Residence.
Ars Lunga is a Piano-Cello duo, established in 2009 in Yerevan, Armenia, by cellist Aram Talalyan and pianist Julietta Vardanyan. The duo has performed numerous recitals across Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and Iran. In 2012, the duo received a Gold Medal from the Union of Moscow composers for outstanding performance. Numerous well-known composers in Armenia, Iran, Russia, and the USA have dedicated music to the duo. The duo has recently completed a large scale recording project, “Anthology of Armenian Chamber Music,” for cello and piano music from 1900 to the present day. Their current project is, “Anthology,” involving the piano and various violinists. Mr. Talalyan, who comes from a dynasty of well known musicians, earned a Master’s degree with Honors, in cello and conducting, from Yale University. In 1997, he began teaching cello and chamber music at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory in Armenia. With many honors and awards, Mr. Talalyan has performed around the world for many years.
Julietta Vardanyan, pianist, graduated in 2007, with Honors, from the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. She has collaborated with several well-known artists, such as Levon Chlingirian (UK), Hovhannes Mokatsian (Germany), Boris Lifshits (Switzerland), Mikayel Balyan (Switzerland), Vadim Lando (USA), Khachik Babayan (Iran) and has been a frequent guest at music festivals in Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Iran, Portugal, and Russia. Ms. Vardanyan has performed as a soloist with “Narekatsi” (Armenia) and “Seasons” (Moscow).
