GSIS's First Annual Leadership Summit was fantastic!!! Over 50 GSIS students invested a long Saturday to take initial steps towards developing a stronger school-wide leadership profile. Our training was based upon the Student Leadership Challenge curriculum which was developed over 30 years of research and is used by Cornell, Microsoft, Oregon University, and many other great institutions.
We were fortunate to have a great list of guest facilitators to teach the following topics:
Mr. Darryl Harding: Inspiring a Shared Vision with your team.
Mr. Ryan Pitkin: Challenging the Process to develop creative solutions.
Ms. Anne Adams: Enabling Others to Act to promote team growth.
Ms. Michelle Forbes: Encouraging the Heart to promote unity and celebrate accomplishments.
Additional kudos to the Frontline team which invested dozens of hours of prep, including arriving early and leaving late on Saturday to serve their counterparts.
Moving forward we hope to collaborate with clubs and athletic programs to embark on a weekend long leadership summit next October. This way clubs and teams could receive strong training, have time to build unity, and get away for a weekend of fun. Thank you for all your support!
