John Nelson serves as GSIS assistant headmaster, having moved laterally in 2009 from TCIS, where he had served since 2005. Prior to coming to Korea, John and his wife Kathleen served in two faith-based international schools in Japan from 1981-2004. Their four children are graduates of international schools in Asia.
Mr. Nelson's background includes both bachelor's and master's degrees in secondary education. His undergraduate study focused primarily on the mathematics content area, with minors in physical education and biblical studies. Graduate study and beyond has focused on organizational leadership and integration of a biblical worldview perspective in the classroom.
Mr. Nelson's duties at GSIS include a broad range of areas, including overseeing admissions, advising the student life ministers, overseeing faculty housing, clarifying policy and procedure, and assisting the headmaster in recruitment, master planning, public relations, and communications.
